The 7/28 Pioneer Press letters to the editor included these:

Maplewood voters want change

In response to the July 26 letter "Bring sanity back to Maplewood": The writer's view is that the new members of the City Council have formed a dynasty without reasonable compromise. My view is they were elected to make changes, and that is what the voters want. Hopefully, the dismissal of the former city manager and the end of the 30-year reign of the former city attorney is also the end of the council's status quo attitude.

At Monday's meeting, it came as a complete shock to our mayor when she learned that the former city attorney lied (in her name) to the chief of police and human resource manager by telling them it was the mayor's request to conduct an internal investigation of the interim city manager.

I gave them my vote and I give them my support.

Getting on track in Maplewood

Edward J. Leier is correct in his assessment that the "incumbents" are the culprits behind the endless gridlock in Maplewood ("Maplewood Council: Take responsibility," July 19).

Currently, there are only two incumbents on the City Council — Will Rossbach and Kathy Juenemann.

Mr. Leier, you are on the right track. As you suggest, vote the "incumbents" out, and you will most assuredly put the council into a position where it can "work on the many issues that face the city."
